Sunflower Saison

Hazy yellowish orange pour, with a large white head. Aroma is quite fruity, with some subtle spice. Cloves, banana, and some pepper. Mouth feel is full, and the carb is bright, and lively. low to medium bitterness. Pie crust, grassy, with some dark fruit, and citrus.

Floral and spicy aromas with a light touch of grain. Cardamom, pepper, with a lemony and floral touch on a cereal base. A large white and sparkling foam holding up quite well, lingers on the amber and veiled liquid. Entering mouth, it is effervescent and spicy, noting a malty character emphasized by grainy notes. The fruity flavours are still quite low and fades in favor of spices. Bitterness is also extremely low, fading in a dry and pungent finish. Alcohol is still present, without outrageous domination. Hops are mostly spicy and slightly earthy. The body is moderately light, and the warming character is still well established. Strong and spicy version with a well-defined malty character. Arômes floraux et épicés avec une légère touche de grain. Cardamone, poivre, avec une touche citronnée et florale sur un fons de céréales. Une grosse mousse blanche et pétillante qui se maintient passablement bien, s’attarde sur le liquide ambré et voilé. En bouche, c’est effervescent et épicé, relevant un caractère malté assez souligné par des notes granuleuses. Les saveurs fruitées sont quand même assez basses et s’effacent au profit des épices. L’amertume est également peu relevée, s’effaçant dans une finale sèche et piquante. L’alcool est quand même bien présent, sans domination outrageante. Les houblons relèvent des notes surtout épicées et légèrement terreuses. Le corps est moyennement léger et le caractère de réchauffement est quand même bien implanté. Version forte et épicée avec un caractère malté bien défini.

A hazed golden saison with a thin lacing white head. In aroma, sweet fruity malt with light vanilla, banana, light cloves and minerals. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity banana malt with light lemon grass, light vanilla, pleasant.

Celebrating review 5000 on this site tonight. 750ml bottle produced May 29, 2020. Pours a hazy golden-amber colour with an off-white frothy cap, long lasting and leaving wavy creamy-foamy lacing. Saison nose with some nice lemongrass notes and hints of nuttiness with the sunflower. Some rye spiciness does come out with time and is also felt in the taste. A lot more actually. Darker malt flavours with the Saison richness finishing short, which helps drinking this big bottle. Not bad, but lacking a little balance. Wish I had a better beer to celebrate this.

750ml bottle gushed... then pours a dark gold with some white head. Nose is floral, dandelions, grass, herbs. Flavor has some grain now to go with the floral notes, grass too. Spritzy finish.

Bottle at a mini-RB gathering in November. Poured a very slightly hazy, clear pineapple yellow-orange color with a small white head. Aroma was some light funky notes, lemongrass. Flavor was light grain, peppery, mild funk.
