Cask at Project 53, Stockport. Pours clear amber with beige foam. Aroma: biscuit, caramel, hops, berries, floral. Light to moderate sweet & bitter. Light to medium body with soft carbonation.

24-27/10/2023. From cask at the 45th Norwich Beer Festival. Pours clear amber with a small bubbly off-white head. Good pour. Aroma of caramel, hops, malt, butter, biscuit, flowers. Quite sweet with light to moderate bitterness. Moderate body, slightly watery, soft carbonation. Sweet dry finish. Not bad.

On cask at the Stockbridge Tap. Appearance - deep amber to red. Beige head. Nose - bread, toffee, dried orange and red fruit. Taste - toffee, bread and orange. Palate - close to medium bodied, chewy texture, light sweetness but roasty finish. Overall - quite nice.

Lovely looking deep amber with a creamy off-white head and a malty, hedgerow fruit aroma. Smooth and creamy, fruit malt to the fore with that lovely floral bitterness you associate with English bitters of old in the finish

Hand-pulled pint at The Abbey, Shrewsbury on 8th May 2022. Can't remember the last time I came across a Best Bitter that was new to me, really pleased to find one. Anyway this was 4.0% and came a lovely clear amber colour with a lasting white head, nice blend of fruity hops and semi-sweet malts. Sat outside in the beer garden taking in the afternoon sun, lovely!

NEW REVIEW A rerate was suggested – so here it is ! Cask at Hops, Crewe (at a reduced price due “poor head retention” !) Pours a dark copper with a large very transient off-white head . There’s autumn fruits in the aroma, plus some hints of mango. In the mouth, a general fruitinessd is the first thing evident. It’s a little watery with malts and some underlying bitterness. Flavour of apples, mango and floral hops leading to a slightly dry finish. This is decent. ORIGINAL REVIEW Cask at Wickstead Arms, Nantwich. Served too cold, so may require a rerate. Pours the classic bitter brown with a small white head and good lacing. Not much of a nose – all I could get was some vague maltiness. In the mouth it is rather watery, with sweet malts being the dominant flavour, plus oranges and mango. Finish is slightly bitter. Overall a bit bland. 4;4;6;3;12 = 2.9

True to style, has the bitterness, which isn’t unpleasant, still slightly oxidized, but overall a good version of the style. GBBF winter

On handpull at Albert's Schenke. Pours gold brown. Toffee, pear, hazelnut, biscuit. Good soft body. Nice.

Cask @ The Abbey. Pours clear golden amber, white topping. Semi-sweet malt on the nose. Taste takes you along similar lines, with satisfactory caramel malt and fruity yeast providing its character, though a little thin. Decent bitter.
