500ml (thx, Brian C.!) @ Ryan's shared with Faress and a gang. Appearance: dark brown with a weak beige head. Aroma: boozy, somewhat grassy, and a bit meaty, meh. Taste: along the same lines, quite harsh and not nicely balanced compared to their other beers. Overall: ok.

Dark brown. No head. This has a really nice barrel aroma, toast, vanilla, a bit nutty. A bit of dark malt, some fruitiness, a touch of alcohol. I really like the treatment on this. There's a bit of deep fruitiness to it, with again a complex barrel character. Very good.

Poured from 500mL bottle. Near black with almost no beige head. Young wood forward, some bourbon, mild dark fruits from the barley wine, better than regular Barncat Seven, about on par with original (non-double barrel) Seven.

500mL bottle, pours a dirty black with a tiny beige head. Aroma has a somewhat harsh barrel character -- with somewhat harsh bourbon, some smokiness and lots of toasted oak. Flavour is better than the nose suggests, with lots of smoky bourbon barrels, toasted oak, and some char. Finishes fairly charred, with smoky bourbon and minimal sweetness. Excellent.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a dark brown foamy head with some retention and some lacing notes. Aroma of chocolate notes with some caramelized malt and bourbon barrel notes and vanilla notes with some residual sugar notes. Taste is also a mix of chocolate notes with caramelized malt with some woody bourbon barrel coffee notes and some vanilla notes with some residual sugar notes. Body is full for style with good carbonation with some discernible alcohol notes. Great mix between a barleywine and a BA stout, with great additional complexity brought in by the double barrel aging.
