American Half Wheat IPA - dry hopped to hell and back with Pacific Gem pellets. (Not for the faint hearted - probably the most bitter tasting beer we've brewed to date)

Cask at CPK, London. Pours clear yellow with a foamy, white head. Interesting nose, some tropical fruits, faint hay. Flavor is faintly sweet and way overly bitter, with huge apricot notes. Yeah, the sweetness is nowhere near adequate to offset the intense hops. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Very mild sweetness in the finish with a further onslaught of unchecked hops. More apricot and tropical fruits. Way too unbalanced. Itโ€™s great that breweries want to make hoppy low ABV beers, but they should actually scale back the hops somewhat when they lower the malt content. This beer was far too astringent. Not an enjoyable beverage.

Craft. Hazy pale gold beer, short white head. Palate is light and pretty dry. Moderate carbonation. Dry citrus bitterness - lemon and grapefruit mostly. Pithy dry finish with a long bitter aftertaste. Mild minerals. Despite this being a 3.0% beer - itโ€™s an astringent bastard! I did have some pleasure out of this but Iโ€™m an old hand. The punters, by all accounts, found it a bit much.

Cask at CP&K. It pours cloudy golden, with a thin white head. The nose is citrus fruit (particularly orange and grapefruit), spice, grass and urine. The taste is intensely bitter, resin, grass, spice, wheat, soap, pine and lots of grapefruit, with a long, aggressively bitter finish. Light-medium body and soft carbonation. Big, bold flavour, but probably too much for the body to handle. Iโ€™m unsure about this one...

Cask at the Craft Beer Co, London on 14th July 2012. Hazy gold with thin white head. Bitter hoppy aroma. Rich and intense hoppy bitterness in-mouth with grassy notes and peach scents. Lasting satisfying intensely bitter finish. An acquired taste for some, but this drinker acquired it first sip! An incredibly intense flavour profile for a 3% ale.

Cask-conditioned at the Three Tuns, Bristol 1/07/2012. Straw coloured with a thin white head. Big, grassy hop aroma with a touch of tropical fruit. Flavour had some cereal malts, and a hint more fruit which gave way to a rasping, bitter finish. A lot going on for 3% ABV, but a bit one dimensional.
