Bottle thanks to GRG1313. Pours with a near black body with a small tan head. Aromas are of dark fruits, raisins, grainy, figs, plums, and some autolysis. Flavors are chocolatey, grainy, medium esters, dark fruits and leather. Lower carbonation with a fuller body.

Bomber from EBay ($6.49 plus $5 shipping) Nose of chocolate, smokliness, and light licorice. Clear dark cherry brown with a medium cinnamon tan head that left quickly. Flavor was white pepperiness, light sweetness and smoke. Finish was lightly both smoky and bitter.

A deep dark stout with a thin lacing moka head. In aroma, cocoa malt with sweet fruity esters, meaty notes and lots of C-hops. In mouth, a sweet fruity chocolate, with light lingering bitterness, molasses, a bit short in mouth, but good. Simpled and clean. Bomber shared with probstk and Michael, Oct. 7 2009. Bought at Sam’s Wine and Spirits, Chicago, May 16 2009.

22 oz bomber. First time I noticed the twist-off cap on a Lagunitas bomber. Rather thin smell when poured into my shaker. I would rather expect a note of alcohol and some dark roasties, but they aren’t here. Heads kicks up more fizzy, and shrinks away quickly. Taste makes me think first of some kind of rye cola with vodka mixed in. It is kind of thick and sticky, though. Some black coffee roast notes, but very syrupy, too. Kind of a letdown for a Lagunitas brew. And it looks all the bottles rated are from Sam’s in Downers Grove, like mine.
