Cask at Pigs Ear 2013. Old gold clear thin off white head. Some malt and candy on the aroma. Almost ginger on the hop on the finish. A little flaccid and dull.

Pigs Ear. The Round Church, Hackney. Cask. Clear gold beer, residual white head. Palate is smooth and semi dry with light fine carbonation. Light sweetish pale malt slightly dominates mellow sweet citrus. Light dry finish. Okay but sweet.

Cask in a pub somewhere in Shoreditch on the way to a Parquet Courts gig. The place stank of varnish or pain thinner or something. The new Truman set up seems to have taken over the couple of pumps available in here...still can’t remember the name of the place..pretty sure a member of the animal kingdom was involved in the title. Anyway, enough waffle- Amber pour with a white head. Bit of citrus in the nose (hard to detect it through the bloody varnish smell permeating the place). Vanilla and citrus flavour. Light bitter finish. Not bad.

Cask pint, as Truman Swift Golden Ale, at The Tabard, Turnham Green, Chiswick - a nice Taylor-Walker pub. ABV was 3.9%. Served at cellar temperature. Deep golden colour, low white head, leaving some lacing in the glass. Moderate aroma, more malty than hoppy. Smooth flavour, medium malty with a hoppy bite in the finish.

Cask at the George on the Strand, 17/09/13. Clear light golden with a decent sized white head. Nose is toasted malt, citrus, light floral hops, orange. Taste comprises toasted malts, orange sherbet, grass, bread dough. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, light bitter notes in the finale. Ok GB affair.

Cask at Wandsworth London Beer Festival on 6 July 2013. Poured a slightly hazy light golden yellow with a small white head. Light aroma of sweet malts, slightly sugary. Watery mouth feel. Fruity malt flavours were quite subtle. Not bad, but nothing to write home about. I understand a great deal better than Truman’s in the 70s...

Cask at The Pride of Spitalfields, London. Pours clear yellow with a fine, white cream head. Lightly toasted, doughy malt nose. Sweet flavor with some faint caramel and berries, mild bread, very light leafy bitterness. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly sweet to finish with some toasty sugar, light doughy bread, very mild leafy hops. An easy going sessioner. Somewhere between a golden ale and a bitter.
