Barrel Aged Imperial Oyster Stout. Limited edition. "The first man gets the oyster, the second man gets the shell"...but sometimes he gets the pearl too. This is our imperial oyster stout that has been oak-aged in a pinot noir cask. The barrel aging has enhanced what was already a rich, smooth & treacle beer. Cellar it if you can bear to save it. Bottle, 330ml.

Bodney Towers Bottleshare. Thanks to Leighton. Opaque black - brown beer, good dark tan head. Palate is airy and semi dry, modest fine carbonation. Fluffy soft dark malts, a mild tang. Modest dark malt cream. Tangy fruits underneath. Smooth finish. Not bad at all.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up at the London Brewers' Market. Pours oily black-brown with a tight, creamy beige head. Nice rich milk chocolate in the nose, moderate ashy roast, charcoal. Medium to big sweet flavour with rounded chocolate character, mellow scorched earth bitterness, slight minerality, some raisins and other dried feints. Medium to full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Well balanced finish, lightly warming, with a bit more dark fruit character, more bittersweet cocoa. A hint of smoke, peat. Quite good overall.

The taste is dry, earthy, oily, umami, salty, cacao, tangy, fruity, salty seawater, plum, pepper and tannin with a drying liquorice finish. Medium+ body and fine, foamycarbonation. Quite fun.
