Bottle from the brewery. Unfiltered mahogany body with thin lacing. Nose features caramel malt, fruity hops and some booziness. A little thinner on body than expected, but hits an endearing taste mix. Sweet caramel malt, citrus hops, apples, grapes honey blend nicely for a superior scotch ale taste experience. Nice balance too.

Browny-purple colour. Thin head. Whacky aroma - there's a big barrel character but I don't know what to make of it. Woody and fruity, but corky maybe. On the palate, much more interesting, and this port character. It's got a big scotch ale note, with a big woody finish. The port does come across a bit odd, but it's not bad. Just a strange finish, some alcohol late as well. An odd duck.

650mL bottle, pours a cloudy murky rusted red with a small off-white head. Nose reveals plenty of caramel malt, bready malt, and a touch of port barrel. Flavour is quite boozy, with lots of port barrels, caramel, and bready malt. The port barrel character is quite assertive, with a pronounced booziness. Good stuff.

Got this 650ml bottle from the brewery, probably 2 years ago. Pours a clean darker amber colour with some ruby hues. Frothy-bubbly beige head that leaves a little cap on the brew. Aromas of caramel, coffee, lots of dark fruits and hints of nuts. The taste really shows off lots of raisins, but the end is not too sticky, nor too sweet, rich so it helps this one go down. Some light grassiness with the hops in the finish, creating a decent dryness. Very well-brewed.

Bottle, courtesy of Sergey
Opaque dark amber colour. Evident alcohol, mild sweetness. There is a moderate presence of wine, which can't help too much a beer that is strong but not very rich.

650ml bottle shared at Teekay. Appearance: hazy copper with a beige head. Aroma: caramel, dark fruits, some sweetness. Taste: similar, not much of barrel in here. Overall: ok.

A hazed dark brown ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel malt with light Brett, vinous character, woody notes, alcohol warmth, very nice. In mouth, a nice caramel malt with vinous notes, treacle, light acidity, light Brett, alcohol warmth, very nice. On tap at Brewery.
