How much flavour can you squeeze into an imperial stout? Lots. This intensely flavourful stout has balanced notes of coffee beans, dark malts, and loads of hops. This bad boy is dangerously drinkable despite it’s high IBU and ABV. It pours thick, black and retains a strong caramel-colored head throughout. Every sip is an explosion of flavours.

Can from the brewery listed as 9.4% ABV now - Russian Imperial Stout. Pours a dark brown colour with little copper highlights. The head is pretty big, creamy on top, bubbly in the middle with a slight cascade effect at first, for a few seconds. The lacing left is sticky, webby, creamy and foamy. Roasted malt nose with molasses and some grassy hops. The hops show in the flavours, but not as strong as expected from the aromas. They do show up in the finish, getting a little stronger, lingering. This adds some decent dryness. The rest is wet, silky, with the roasted malt, hints of chocolate, coffee grains and molasses again. Easy to drink.

En Fût au Festibière de Gatineau. Du bon chocolat et une belle amertume de torréfaction en fin de bouche. Du chocolat sucré, du chocolat au lait. Notes de mélasse, de caramel. Amertume de café. Texture grasse, beaucoup de corps. Bel équilibre entre les sucres et l’amertume. Très bien fait.

A dark brown stout with a thick frothy lacing mocha head. In aroma, sweet fruity chocolate malt with light grassy hops, light peated notes, pleasant. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity chocolate malt with light peated notes, alcohol warmth, light licorice, very nice. On tap at Ottawa Beer Fest 2018.
