Bottle split at Chriso pre Xmas tasting, 06/12/15. Chestnut brown with a big ole beige head. Nose is yeast esters, light fruit notes, caramel, trace of spice. Taste comprises sweet malt, toffee, candy bar, fruit loaf. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok Belgian affair but like so many of this ilk ... will never set my bier world on fire !

The Pigs Ear wrap up tasting at ChrisO’s. Hazy deep amber beer, good cream colour head. Palate is airy, semi dry and has decent fine carbonation. Very sweet malts, some caramel. Light but very sweet dried fruits. Sweet finish. I like a sweet beer but this is almost sickly!

Bottle at ChrisO’s Pre-Christmas Tasting. It pours murky red - brown with gigantic beige head. The nose is toasty, earthy, some roast, brown bread, must and dried berry. The taste is bitter - sweet, toasty, dried fruits, touch of acidity, candy, tangy dark fruit, light ash, toffee and bread. Medium body and high carbonation. A bit tangy. OK at best.

Bottle shared at the chriso and Ruth pre-Christmas / post-Pigs Ear holiday tasting of 2015 - London. Cheers! Picked this bottle up at the Lab. Pours unclear golden-brown with a creamy khaki head. The aroma has notes of toasted brown bread, toffee, phenols, light earth. Medium sweet flavour with some candi sugar, toffee, dark fruits, brown bread. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Sugary and bready on the finish, with more dark fruits and toffee. A very serviceable dubbel. Drinkable gear.

Bottle from London Beer Lab. A brown beer with a moderate beige head. Light chocolate and brown sugar up front. Generally sweet with some balancing dry autumn leaves. OK but lacks any real oomph, and tastes weaker than it is.
