330ml bottle. Clear, chestnut colour with ruby shimmer and average to huge, frothy, slowly osteoporosing, minimally lacing, beige to tan head. Toasty, slightly nutty and somehow bready, malty aroma, hints of rye flour, Brazil nut. Taste is toasty, slightly nutty malty, minimally caramel malty, slightly leafy, mildly bitter hoppy, hints of Brazil nut, a touch of rye flour. Minimally oily, watery texture, slightly dry palate, medium, scattered, prickly carbonation. Wonderful colour, slightly disharmonious, a tad too toasty - improvable.

0.33 l bottle from 'Hopfenrausch' at 5.0% abv, best before July 2019. Clear, dark reddish amber with a medium large, foamy, stable, off-white head. Slightly sweetish, gently grassy-spicy and a bit roasty aroma of caramel, toasted nuts, some strawberry and a touch of bread crust. Just slightly sweet, fairly dry, moderately bitter, gently grassy-spicy, a bit fruity taste of caramel, toasted nuts, some raisins, nettles and a touch of strawberry, followed by a short, gently bitter, rather dry, moderately grassy-spicy and a bit roasty finish. Almost medium-bodied, rather effervescent mouthfeel, lively carbonation. Solid beer but quite over-carbonated, lacks the depth and balance of a good Alt from Düsseldorf. Another disapppointment from Ale Mania in recent weeks for me.
