Bottle. A- Malty, caramel, oak, faint spice. A- Copper color, clear liquid, off white. T- Slightly bitter, woodsy, mild cinnamon, booze, sweet, malty, caramel. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, slightly unbalanced. O- Some rye spice coming through but honestly a bit messy and feels like a malt bomb. Really lacking here, but also a clearance bin buy so that might be why.

Bottle pour from share with AirForceHops--thanks, Chris! Appearance is cloudy medium brown (like unstrained apple cider) with tons of sparkle at the edges of the glass, finger-width off-white head with fair retention and no lacing. Aroma is strong balanced caramel, wood, whiskey, some sweet and tart fruit in there. Taste is strong caramel dominant with more secondary sweet/tart fruit and whiskey. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with smooth texture, average-to-lively carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, strong aroma and taste with a more interesting and balanced aroma. Taste is less balanced and whiskey, especially, in the taste would have been better. Held too long?

750 ml bottle. Aged over 2 years. Aroma shows medium level of oat with light honey. Flavor has a honeycomb like sweetness with a creamy texture over the tongue. Whiskey is noticed very slightly in the finish. Alcohol is hidden. Maybe I should have opened it a year ago. Still good.

On tap at Surly, pours a hazy copper golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out earthy notes, some rye, and biscuity malt. Flavour is quite boozy, with plenty of whiskey barrels upfront, followed by oats, and toasted caramel. Very barrel-dominated. Not bad at all.

Winterfest 2018.Brown, copper color. lots of alcohol in the aroma, some sugar, very smooth palate which I attribute to the oats.

Sampled from the tap at MWF 2018. Pours a hazy earthy gold with a white head that dissipates nearly completely. Aroma has lots of sweet grains, a touch of caramel, toffee, oak and a bit of oat. Flavor has a nice sweet caramel and toffee with some oak and oat supporting.
