Super dark brown coloured body with a slightly opaque (around fifty per cent) body that has some black tints, but a thinnish, single centimetre tall rich brown head that fades relatively quickly, with a thin lace on the sides as it fades. Aroma of deep roasted malts, oatmeal, anise and especially chocolate scents with a lot of vanilla and fairly strong nuttiness, but the roasted malts here are very nice and not too pungent. Full-bodied; Super strong and rich malts dominate here with a lot of oatmeal, a good deal of grain, bunches or rich nuttiness and coffee with also a good deal of chocolate and vanilla. Aftertaste shows a lot of creamy notes with some lactose still noticeable, but the vanilla, chocolate and especially nutty flavours dominate here with a nice layer of richness that is smooth, yet flavourful. Overall, a very nice beer with still a lot of flavour, yet a smooth finish that shows a lot of vanilla, lactose and earthy notes, but still a noticeable amount of alcohol, coffee and bitterness is still here. Overall, this is a very nice beer, while still showing a lot of flavours, the robust nature and still easy-drinking qualities remain, and while I kept this for a bit more than 3 years, this seemed about right, it could have probably been okay (and perhaps better?!?) for another two or three years. I sampled this 65 cL bottle, purchased from Hy-Vee in Omaha (5150 Carter), Nebraska on 05-February-2018 for US$11,99 sampled at my house here in Washington on 19-March-2021.

750 ml bottle. Black pour. Aroma is light whiskey, not overwhelming. Chocolate, oak. Flavor starts chocolate with some whiskey but mellows into a surprisingly complex finish with lots of roasty coffee. The texture is heavy body with long, sweet/roasty finish. No booze is found at all. Gosh damn, just awesome.

Bottle. A- Coconut, vanilla, oak, boozy, wood, burnt sugars. A- Black color, black liquid, brown head. T- Coconut, oak, booze, caramel, mild bitterness. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, complex finish. O- A bit pricey at $20 a bomber but one I knew I had to have for a couple reasons. One being that before my grandpa passed away he gave me a bottle of Wyoming Whiskey, one of his favorites and until this beer I’d never seen it or heard of it elsewhere. Another in that Kinkaider has been doing some great things. Kept about 6 months before opening and it’s definitely boozy but not hot. The aging imparts aromas of coconut, vanilla, whisky, and oak on the nose. The flavor follows suit. I think this would be even better if I laid it down for a couple years and these barrels would make great use for aging a barley wine!
