Cask at the Craft Holborn event. It pours pretty much black with a medium bubbly tan head. The nose is soft roast, earth, cocoa, vanilla, charred wood and dark fruit. The taste is smooth, bitter-sweet, roasted malt, earth, ash, chocolate, vanilla, lactose and toasted coconut. Medium body and soft carbonation. Not a whole lot of depth to it, but rather enjoyable stuff.

Craft Tottenham Court Road. Cask. Opaque black - brown beer, tidy pale tan head. Palate is smooth and semi dry. Modest fine carbonation. Mild dark malts, just a whisper of roasty bitterness. This is more than offset by a good dose of semi sweet vanilla. Where the two meet is a little dark chocolate. Mild tangy dark fruits. Little spicy bitterness in the dry finish. Nice.

Cask at the craft beer co Halloween tap takeover. Opaque chestnut brown / black coloured pour with a lasting patchy dark Tam head. Aroma is tart berry, wood with a little coco sweetness. Flavour is composed of dark choc and tangy berry, black Forrest gateau, raspberry. Long lingering dark choc, toasted coconut and tangy berry. Bitter coffee. Medium full body with lowish carbonation. Maybe a bit of tangerine in there as well. I don’t get much vanilla, maybe a bit of sweetness.

Cask at CBC St. Giles during the Weird Beard tap takeover. Pours black-brown with a frothy tan head. The nose has chalky cocoa, dry vanilla beans, burnt earth. Medium sweet flavor with lots of burnt earth, baking cocoa. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Dry char finish with light ouly cocoa and vanilla beans. Not bad.
