Cask at the Craft Holborn event. It pours pretty much black with a medium tan head. The nose is earthy roast, sweet cocoa, coffee and some light vegetal notes. The taste is bitter-sweet, roasted malts, chocolate, just a touch of chilli spice, some dark fruits and earth with a dry, roasty finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. The restrained chilli aspect works quite nice with the base beer. Another solid version of this.

Cask at CBC Holborn during the Halloween tap takeover, 31/10/14. Black with a moderate tan covering. Nose is coffee, spice, earthy roast, toffee fudge. Taste comprises coffee, roast malt, toffee, cocoa rub, light chilli throat. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close. Decent well rounded stout in good condition although I didn’t detect much in the way of chilli, maybe not a bad thing!

Craft Tottenham Court Road. Cask. Opaque dark brown beer, thin pale tan head. Palate is light and fairly dry. Modest fine carbonation. Mild dark malts, trace of creamy sweetness. Light tang. Mild milk chocolate and dark chocolate. Mild tangy dark fruits, well buried. Very very restrained chilli, you hardly notice it. Good! Finishes light and dry with a whisper of smoke. Tasty.
