Sensory Session #37: brownish-blakkish color and a tan head. Nose of smoked ham and Bonaire. Taste starts with liquorice, dark coffee, malty, faint vanilla-cask flavors. Roasted bitter finish.

Aus der Flasche (Thy Whisky Fad 49 / 8,5% ABV / bbe 21.12.2023 ) im 2021-10 getrunken. Dieses Porter hat eine kräftige, beige Schaumkrone. In der Nase ist es bis auf einen leichte Räucherspeck Note recht verhaltend. Die Specknote ist am Gaumen kaum noch wahrnehmbar. Ansonsten ist es recht Malzig mit deutlicher Röstaromen, welche an Robusta-Kaffeebohnen erinnern. Eine schönes Porter!

Bottle 50 cl. Comes as Thisted Limfjords Porter Thy Whisky Fad 49. And 8,5% ABV. Pours an opaque black with a dense and cappuchinoish lacing, beige head. Solid smoky nose, Bamberg style atop some subtle roast. Body is surprisingly a little watery, roasty and again a very jyicy smokiness, some dark chocolate. The whisky only leaves a vague, boozy imprint. Guys, why on earth don't you barrel age if you seriously want whisky flavors? This doesn't come nowhere near those flavors. 100321

Bottle. Pours hazy very dark brown with stable dark tan head. Clear aroma of toast and barrel, with fruity and estery touches and notes of malt and caramel. Bitter, roasty flavour with notes of whisky barrel and malt and touches of yeast, coffee, dried fruit, nuts, and caramel. Barelllike and estery aftertaste. Warming alcohol presence. Decent. Not very sweet but not too boozy, either.

Aroma: Dark roasted malt with whiskey, caramel, coffe and smoke. Flavour: Smokey and roasted malt with oak and whiskey. Notes of licorice, chocolate and coffee. Aftertaste is Oak, malt and whiskey. Bottle, Whisky fad 49, one-time brew from vat 49 acc. to tasting box. dark brown, smooth large creamy but lively brown head. aroma is roasted malts, peat , flavor is peat, roasted malts, oak, charred wood. the peat and the oak is all over the place, roasted malts don't have a chance... fairly unbalanced, but if you like your beer to taste like sort snobrød then this is great. as you get used to it, you get more nuances in the flavor, malts and perhaps dried dark fruits and chocolate appear. clearly a sipping beer, and quite tasty as i see it, but you need to like peat smoked stuff to really appreciate this. comparing this one (vat 49) to the lagret på egetræ version, the 49 is way more woody, almost gluey, while the lagret på egetræ is a lot more balanced and a definite improvement on the original limfjordsporter. But... the thing is.. the 49 is a beer with a lot of character and remind me of my first barrel aged beers i found in oenschlagersgade from amager bryghus trækølle etc. so.. this 49 is as extreme as a good cask peat whiskey, and as lovely as that. the lagret på egetræ is more like a chivas royal salute 24 yrs blend kind of thing. Both beers are fantastic improvements on the already pretty awesome limfjordsporter.

Bottle as Thy Whisky Fad 49. Black, lasting brown head. Aroma has wood, mild smoke and a light sherry note. Malty flavour, a little licorice, light smoke and good, slightly boozy warmth. More whisky than sherry unlike the aroma.

Bottle.pitch black colour with small beige head.Aroma is smooth and creamy with taste of chocolate and coffee nice hint of whisky aswell.
