Cask at CBC, Covent Garden on 2nd March 2024. Deep brown with pale tan foam and full lacing. Toffee malt aroma with latent fruitiness. Pungent and malty in-mouth, and a rich, malt and spicy finish. Medium bodied with a smooth mouthfeel.

Cask ale at Pineapple. Kindly shared by Leif. Tiny off-white head over a ruby-black body, clingy lacing. Promising aromas of dark malts and dark fruits. Comprehensive taste character, impacts of berry-fruits, biscuit, and chocolate malts. Smoothly roasted finish. A bit thin on the swallow. Likeable. (Kentish Town, London 06.12.2023).

27/12/2022. Bottle at the ITFC Christmas beer share. Bought direct from the brewery. Pours clear dark ruby brown with a small frothy off-white to beige head. Good looking beer. Aroma of dried fruits, malt, molasses, liquorice, dark fruits, nut and light spice. Moderate sweetness and bitterness. Moderate body, slightly creamy, soft carbonation. Nicely done light porter.

Cask at Exeter Arms, Derby. Pours a ruby red (light for a porter) with minimal off-white head. The usual suspects of roasted malts and dark fruits in the aroma. Fruit to the fore at the start in the mouth. Raspberries and plums on a base of caramel. Later on liquorice and aniseed come through. Finish is dry and fruity. Quite nice.

500ml bottle as part of a delivery from the brewery. Mid- to dark brown, translucency makes it appear somewhat thin. Ring of off-white head. Light chocolate aroma, biscuity malt with a metallic astringency. Bittersweet taste with chocolate malt, corn syrup, cola, light coffee, some plum. Finish is a slightly medicinal bitter, with a thin body and heavy carbonation. It feels low in ABV - it isn't especially for a modern day porter - but its lightness is part of its charm. Worth a try.

Bottle. Catchable gusher. Dark brown with a huge light tan head that collapses. Aroma of mocha, earth, quinces, nuts. Medium bodied, highish carbonation for an English porter. Roasted and nutty flavours, some fruit, dry mocha finish. Pleasant and quite engaging - lightish and fruity but with enough roasted and mocha flavours to feel like a porter.
