Cask at the Wellington, Birmingham. Poured a clear dark reddish amber with a broken bubbly light tan head. The aroma is light roasted malt, light hop. The flavour is medium to strong bitter with a roasted malt, burnt toffee liqourice, light hop palate. Medium to light bodied with soft carbonation.

Cask, handpump at The Bodega, Newcastle Upon Tyne. Wednesday 1st October 2014. Pours reddy amber with slim white head, good clarity, great nick. Fruity with some citrus and berries (hedgerow berries) combining well. Goes down very easily, not entirely sure of style just tastes like a hoppy bitter to me, v.good. A6 A4 T7 P3 Ov14 3.4

Cask gravity at the St Albans beer fest 2014. Chestnut red coloured pour with a lasting off white greyish head. Aroma is nice hedgerow berry , honeycomb and spicy nettle hop. Hint of tobacco on the nose as well. Flavour is earthy honeycomb, berry, tobacco, and hint of dirt. Suberb american red. Nice floral citrus hop rounds it out. Palate is medium sweet, very good condition. Really fucking good.

Cask @ Grove Inn, Huddersfield. Similar to a black IPA in style, it’s actually dark brown with a red hue and includes lots of tropical fruit in its aroma and taste. Has a frothy head.

Cask at the Mermaid, St Albans. Translucent, slightly reddish mid brown. Wonderfully wrong-footing aroma of piney hop, roasted malt, grass, apricot and cola. Taste is simpler: dry grapey bitterness, an edge of savoury-sweetness at the end. Harsh bitterness of the aftertaste is a bit incongruent. Weakish palette, can’t feel enough of that lovely natural carbonation. Quite good but I’d have liked a little more ’oomph’ to make a truly great beer.
