nice dark robust pour with a good amount of head. Aroma is promising. Some nice roasty notes, and a good amount of hazel nut, and roasted nuttiness. Flavor is very robust, and smoky, it’s good a long lasting roasted coffee finish, and some slight bitterness. Not bad.

My wife brought this one back from a trip to Rochester. +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with an enormous foamy brown head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was toasty malts, malted milk and cocoa. The flavor was bitter, dryish and roasty with notes of nut, cocoa, coffee and malted milk. The finish was long, dry and roasty with lingering coffee and malted milk. Medium body. Too dry for my liking but decent anyway.

Bottle from beerbill - looks good when it pours - thick tan lace, dark brown, nearly black body - a lot of acidity in the nose and flavor - clearly infected - fairly creamy, though - there is some tobacco, roasted malt, and vanilla underneath the acidity, but they can’t break through - I’m really tired of small breweries fucking up their shit and sending infected beers out to the stores.

Bottle: Poured a medium dark color porter with a large off-white foamy head with OK retention and no lacing. Aroma of creamy roasted malt with light sweetness also noticeable. Taste is also dominated by some medium dry roasted malt with light sweetness notes reminiscent of lactose. Body is a bit light with OK carbonation. Not bad but really nothing to write home to at the end of the day.

Deep dark porter with a very thin off white head. Nice chocolate malt aroma, with notes of moka coffee. In mouth, a decent light porter, short mouth, but with enough chocolate bitterness to sustain interest. The Real Beer Expo - Rochester, NY, Oct. 21, 2006.

Dark brown colour with a fantastic tan head that tops the beer perfectly. Very sweet aroma filled with chocolate, coffee and strong vanilla. Medium to Light-bodied; Velvety texture, nice roasted malt flavour with strong prolonged sweetness. Aftertaste very mellow showing sweet vanilla characteristics and a nice maltiness. Overall, a nice beer and great flavours all-around. I had this pint on cask at the Old Toad in Rochester, New York.

Muddy dark brown; cocoa, hint of coffee in the nose. Semi-sweet chocolate in the finish. Otherwise a straight porter with no surprises.
