The Durham Black Bishop stout is intense in flavour but not in body or strength making it an entirely quaffable and interesting beer. The Black Bishop has flavours and aromas of a roasty coffee, peat, and a sweet chocolate and caramel; smokey notes are definitely at the forefront. Our director, Mark, likes this beer so much he necked half the bottle before the rest of us had a chance to try some. Thanks for sharing!

Cask @ Record Cafe, Bradford. Not quite black but close, with an off-white creamy head. Has a healthy roasted malt aroma and taste without being over tasted. Has an easy drinking texture for its style.

Bottle from Bottle Shop, Cheadle Hulme [171114]
Black, tan head, some lacing
Aroma of soft roast, dark malts, red berry fruits, slight coffee, good aroma
Taste of dark malts, some burnt roast, red berry malts, dark bitter chocolate, touch of charcoal, slight aromatic note
Palate - Medium carb, medium light body, a bit fizzy. Finish quite dry, good roast, getting a bit of newspaper though in the afters which spoils it a bit
Overall - Quite a decent stout, not sure about that papery note in the finish
