A deep amber barleywine, smooth and softly sweet to start, with intense multi-layered malt flavours of dried fruits.

Rested in our coolship to increase evaporation and create a stronger beer and barrel aged in Andalusian wine casks that held Scotch whisky, adding hints of coconut and a rich caramel warmth.

On tap at Wigan Central. Pours a cloudy dark chestnut with minimal off-white head. Aroma has malts, cherries, musty oak barrels and malt whisky. In the mouth it is sweet and cloying with an overall flavour of woody corks and strong alcohol. There’s also plums, grapes and marmalade in the mix with a hint of chestnuts coming later. Finish is very boozy. This is excellent !

Keg at Six Degrees North. Hazy plum/brown body with no head, carbonation or lacing. Aroma of whisky and smoke. Flavour of plum and whisky. Medium body with a slick texture. Very soft fizz. I wanted to love this but I didn’t; it’s too smokey and boozy.

Вообще какой то невнятный барлик, много земли. мало карамельки, очень много алкашки на финише, может только слива есть и все.

Panda at home, thanks to Kenneth, 24/09/24. Mahogany brown with a beige cap that thins to a swirl. Nose is fruit cake, brown sugar spattering, dates, figs, toffee, light smoke, barrel whisper. Taste comprises dried fruits, raisins, spice, burnt toffee, mellow whisky barrel, light smoke, caramelised sugars. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a warming kiss of alcohol. Sips fair easy for 14.5 and makes for a solid nip.

Can. Deep amber beer, small bubbly pale tan head. Light palate for the hefty abv. Good fine minerally carbonation. The malts are rich in flavour but fairly light in mouthfeel. Rich toffee, lovely, a little caramel. Modest ripe fruits. Wonderful Oak Barrel induced vanilla. Some alcohol spice. Rich ripe red wine goodness, getting all grown up like and Porty. Crisp finish. Toffee Porty linger. A banger of barleywine. Has all the ripe mature goodness but retains a bit of brightness. A delight.

Can shared by my bro. It pours hazy dark reddish - brown with a small khaki head. The aroma is bitter - sweet, heady notes of whisky soaked dried fruits, raisin, sultana, spice, toasted fruit cake, brown bread, jammy, dull fortified wines, bruised banana, liquorice allsorts and toasted brown sugars. The taste is initially dry, toasty, rich and chewy, heady notes of booze, liquorice, earth, whisky soaked oak, tannin, leather, dried fruits, raisin, cranberry, sultana, fig, fortied wine, spice, dull vanilla and toasted rye bread with a drying, chewy leather sofa finish. Medium to fulsome body and soft, supportive carbonation. Commands attention for sure. A interesting sippin ale.
