Our 2016 collab festival beer with Brewdog Shoreditch. It’s easy drinking, slightly tart, yet full on breakfast stout. We added smoke malt for ash, cherries from the fruit cellar and our Has Bean Coffee. This along with huge quantities of oats and lactose for full bodied stout.

Bottle. No idea where from. Really dark, cola brown. Thin, creamy, tan head. Nose has raspberry ruffle chocolate. Vanilla biscuit. Milky coffee. Taste has raspberry milkshake sweetness. Some coffee bean bitterness. Nicely silky mouthfeel. Soft carbonation. Some coffee bitterness to finish. Been looking at this in the fridge for ages, and don’t know why I haven’t had it sooner. Weird Beard rarely disappoint.

330ml bottle from Ales by Mail. Pours pitch black with a massive thick and foamy head. Aroma of chocolate, roasty malts, mild sourness, hints of tart cherries and mocha espresso. Taste is smooth, slightly earthy and roasty with hints of cherries, coffee, berries and mocha. Finish is smooth, sweetish and slightly earthy with some tartish cherries, chocolate, coffee and espresso notes. Actually quite smooth, I was expecting a bit more extreme stuff based on the aroma.

Pigs Ear Fest. Cask. Opaque dark brown beer, smal pale tan head. Palate is smooth, semi dry and has modest fine carbonation. Smooth dark malts, tangy. Mellow tangy dark fruits. Smooth semi dry finish. Nothing out the odinary then but there is a nice freshness and richness that elevates it above the crowd.

Cask at Pig’s Ear Fest, Hackney, London. A black coloured pour with a thin beige head on top. Roasty, chocolate aroma. Tastes pretty much the same, roasty, chocolate, berry fruit. Decent.

Bottle at The Alexander Bottle Shop, Halifax, Friday 9th December 2016 Pours black with a slim off white head. Soft carbonation, not getting so much cherry, a little roasty edge, good tanginess but quite sweet also. Good. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov13 3.5
