Low-alcoholic ‘farmhouse ale’ (so a sour saison, basically) by this acclaimed Berliner Weisse specialist, from a 75 cl bottle shared at Nieuwjaarsreceptie Gentse Biervereniging. Egg-white, mousy, dense, medium thick, slowly dissipating head, ‘dirty’ ochre-tinged peach blonde robe, entirely clouded (I got the end of the bottle, clearly). Aroma of green peppercorns, sesame seed, wild apples, fresh sage, dried rosemary, bread dough, yoghurt, old moldy oranges. Freshly fruity onset, estery, with hints of green gooseberry, medlar and sour apple, softly carbonated with a slick and evidently thin mouthfeel; very bready, bit biscuity maltiness dried by lactic sourness, ending quite earthy and estery with yeasty breadiness and herbal-spicy notes, dry and floral. Very quenching and quite complex for a beer of this ABV; German Schneeeule quality applied to an Anglo-Saxon idea based on a Belgian tradition…

1/II/20 - 75cl bottle @ nieuwjaarsreceptie Gentse Biervereniging, BB: 9/III/19 (uh-oh), bottled: 8/III/18 (2020-85) Thanks to everyone for sharing all today’s beers!
Pretty cloudy beige to amber beer, practically no head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: funky, sourish, lemony, infected, herbal, rosemary, thyme, bit oxidized. MF: lively carbon, medium body. Taste: soft acidity, lemony, dry, some tannins, little fruity, bitter, some orange peel. Aftertaste: sourish, dry, bit lemony, interesting!

Bottle, nearly 6 month after best before date. Color: Hazy amber, off-white head. Aroma: Yeasty, wild yeast funk, lightly tart. Taste: Fruity notes of stone fruit and white berries, yeasty notes of spicy Saison or Kveik yeast and funky wild yeast, leather. Light to moderate sweet and tart, light bitterness to somewhat more bitterness at finish. Pretty much taste for such a low alcohol beer. Under medium body, a bit watery, below average carbonation. Pretty nice for a low alcohol Farmhouse Ale.

Hazy amber. Aroma is leather funk, tropic fruit, spices, berries, slight smokiness, very intense and complex. Taste is surprisingly light, some bitter skunky leather with lots of sweet and sour berries. Drinkable. Interesting. Well done.

0.33 bottle. Cloudy, light pink. Lightly sour and refreshing, no hint of red beet flavor which is good by me. Light flowery-fruity taste.
