A beer to be savoured and sipped to appreciate evolving layers of flavour.

It is a deep, rich, complex, intense, strong black beer. Mouthfeel is full bodied. Chocolate, coffee and roasted flavours are at the forefront, dark stone fruit is in the background. The finish is bitter-sweet and warming.

(Cask at White Horse, Parson’s Green, London, 26 Nov 2016) Black colour with foamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of black coffee, liquorice and dark fruit. Malty, roasted taste with chocolate, coffee, liquorice, dark fruit and a slightly bitter-sweet finish. Almost full body, with a certain sweetness. Solid and well made imperial stout, fairly well balanced for its strength. Very nice.

Cask @ The Grove, Huddersfield. Black with a small creamy off-white head. Very strong tasting, but there’s plenty of smoothish roasted malt character to be had here too.
