Cask at Petersgate Tap, Stockport. Pours almost black with a sizeable beige head. There’s a strong aroma of oak and alcohol with some roast malts too. In the mouth it is strongly bitter with liquorice, coffee / tia maria, malts and alcohol. Traces of tar and wet wood as well. Finish fluctuates between bitter and sweet. This is excellent – but I think I preferred the straight version.

Aged separately in two whisky barrels, Glenturret peated malt and Hyland Islay, and blended after five months this special edition of our 10% Imperial Stout delivers complex flavours of decadent caramel and dark chocolate sitting alongside subtle smoky notes. Dark stone fruit sweetness ends with a pleasing light warmth. An opulent beer to luxuriate in.
