Cask at The Smithfield, Manchester. Black pour with a beige head. Aromas of liquorice , beef gravy, dark fruit, raisin. Flavours of raisin, toffee and chocolate. Good.

(Cask at Craft Beer Co Clerkenwell, London, 27 Nov 2016) Black colour with foamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of chocolate, coffee, caramel and a hint of ginger. Malty, roasted taste with chocolate, coffee, a touch of vanilla, roasted malt and a balanced cacao bitterness. Medium body, with a slight sweetness. Tasty and well balanced. Nice one.

[ As Blackjack Stout ].Unclear dark brown color with a average, frothy - fizzy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige to light brown head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, dark roasted, dark malt, wood, toffee. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, malt bitter, sharp, dark malt, sweet dark malt, roasted. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. Craft 100. Clapham. Cask. Clear amber - red - brown beer, tidy pale tan head. Palate is smooth and semi dry and has decent fine carbonation. Mellow dark malts, modest dark chocolate - dry. A touch of dark fruits underneath. Trace of smoke. Light dry finish. Okay.

Bottle from Hopology, Nottingham. Black colour with a medium tan head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, and roasted malt, the taste follows the aroma. Medium body.

Cask. Gravity dispense. 42nd Steel City Beer Festival. Dark, cola brown. Film of grey head. Nose has chocolate. Cocoa. Split wood. Vanilla pod. Taste is soft, chocolatey sweet. Light, woody bitterness. Silky mouthfeel. Roast bitter finish. Nice one.

Gravity dispense at Craft 100, 06/10/16. Black with a decent tan cap. Nose is light roast, toffee, chocolate, charr, tar. Taste comprises chocolate malt, dark fruit esters, light spice, toffee fudge, solid hippy underpin. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close. Decent cask stout.
