Fred de Bruijne has travelled to Banks’s Brewery, in the West Midlands, to brew this beer especially for the Wetherspoon Spring 2016 real-ale festival. This golden beer has a balanced blend of fruit and hops in the aroma and flavour, with a developing boost from lightly roasted malt, plus a fresh, sparkling, long-lasting finish.

Cask @ Up Steps Inn, Oldham. Clear tawny-golden coloured with a creamy head. Some hops, but more of a general bubble-gum sweetness in terms of its character, albeit fairly light in this respect.

Cask handpull at the crosse keys. Palate golden coloured pour with a loose off white head. Aroma is nice pale grains and sweet jammy fruit, strawberry and raspberry notes. Flavour is composed of tangy strawberry, hints of honey, subdued Belgian like yeast. Palate is semi sweet, lowish carbonation. OK.

Cask at Willow Walk. It pours clear golden - amber with a thick white head. The aroma is earthy, grainy, white bread, cereal, tangy apple, pear and lemon & honey. The taste is bitter - sweet, tangy fruits, white bread, lemongrass, tangy lemon & lime, green banana, biscuit, throat lozenge and some graininess. Medium body and fine carbonation. Not quite sure what this is meant to be, buts it’s sort of ok.

Cask half-pint in my local Wetherspoons on 10th March 2016. Golden pour with a wispy top. Decent enough blend with light malts just about winning the aroma and flavour battles over the floral and fruity hop content. OK rather than wow.

Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading. Pale amber with a ring of white head; a floral, honeyed aroma; a complex body with some pleasant aromatic pears and some beery fruit, and a slightly oily body; then a fresh herbal bitterness; and a dry biscuity finish with a touch of coriander. A reasonable blonde beer.

On cask at the Standing Order. Appearance - golden with a decent head. Nose - banana and bread. Taste - banana again. Then lemon cough sweets on the finish. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly good finish. Overall - decent.
