Cask at The Wellington, Birmingham. Poured a dark mahogany with a big frothy tan head. The aroma is dry and peaty leading to a medium bitter flavour with lots of roasted malt, coffee and dark chocolate. The palate is smooth but packed full of chewy flavours. The rating should be higher than it is IMO.

Black colour. Aroma of burnt malts. Flavour has some quite sweet roasted malts and a touch of coffee. Quite light for a stout.

On tap at Craft Beer. Clear dark red - amber beer. Tidy suddy pale tan head. Light palate, low carbonation. Mild minerally dark malt with a very slight roast. Ok but somewhat insipid.

Dark brown with a soft, tan foam head. Lightly roasted malts on the nose with some dark fruits. Flavor is nice but really one-dimensional. Has some burnt wood, dark cane sugar, mild roast, light earth. Light to medium in body with fine carbonation. Finishes with modest roast, some sugary malts, light syrup and leafy bitters. Decent beer.

Cask handpull at The Brewery Tap, Derby. Very dark brown. Mlats are very syrupy. Very dark malts, more roasted than toasty, but no real choc or coffee, bit of both, Not great.

Cask at The Royal Standard, (The Brewery Tap), Derby 17-08-08 Rather amusingly I wrote this down as Dashing Duck. Pours very dark brown. Nice roasted nutty taste, bitterness is present but lovely creamy flavours. This isn’t a classic beer but its done very well little bit chewy and malty, but very nice.

Cask at the Brewery Tap, Derby. Black with a raspberry red tint and a tan head; aroma of milky chocolate malts; taste is thin at first but fills out with rich roast coffee leaving a finish of dry coffee grounds. More of a porter than an ESB.
