Cask @ JDW Shrewsbury Hotel, Shrewsbury. Pours clear amber, white froth for a head. Lightly sweet malt nose. Taste brings light caramel, mild drinkable malt sweetness and light marmalade. It’s ok, not quite decent, but it’s a perfectly fine cask rye.

On cask @ the Standing Order. Appearance - golden amber with a decent head. Nose - floral with some custard notes. Caramel even. Taste - more custard, then lemon/ orange on the finish. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry tangy finish. Overall - I didn’t get much rye. No, really!

Cask at the moon under water jdw Watford. Mid amber orange coloured pout with a lasting off white head. Aroma is stewed fruit, brambles, nutty malts. Flavour is composed of spicy stewed hop, semi sweet toffee and caramel malts, hop matter. Little spicy rye bread, but overtaken by English yeast and hop character. Pretty dull.

Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading. Light amber with a middling off-white head. Sweet caramel up front. Watery middle. A little grassy bitterness, a little marmalade, a spicy kick in the finish. But mainly thin and sweet. Not great, but drinkable.
