[33cl can from Beer52.] A hazy pale chestnut pour with a loose cream head; aroma is confusingly both malty and citrusy; creamy citrus taste with a rye-like bitterness in the body; then a clean crisp finish. Pleasant, but a bit odd.

I love me a good brown ale... and this is a good brown ale. The lighter side of mid-brown, translucent/clear with a tiny spotty ring of iff-white head. Lovely aroma, dark caramel, oak, a little vinous note. Sweet taste, more of that intense oaky character. Sarsaparilla. And here comes an intense mid-sip bitter, only to switch to sweet again for the finish. Light body with almost no carbonation. Never been too impressed by Sambrooks but my goodness this is a masterstroke.

Cask at Swan, Farnborough. Odd grassy basement aroma. Medium chestnut. A little finger of off-white head but it's pretty blotchy. Very light bitter. Spicy with some caramel sweet hints. Medium bodied but on the thin side. Soft carbonation. Abrupt dry finish. OK. Could down pints of this but that's because it's kinda for no character.

Cask-conditioned at the Sir Michael Balcon (JDW), Ealing 30/1/2017. Chestnut brown, with a frothy, off-white, head. Sweet, red berries and toffee, some orange peel, citrus hops and a gentle finish. Pleasant drinking.

Pours a clear brown colour with almost no head. A sweet malty aroma together with citrus and pine hops. The taste is a sweet caramel malt with melon, grapefruit, and pine hop flavours. A decent woody bitter finish.

Cask at the London Brewers’ Market. Pours clear red-brown with minimal head. A little foam. The nose has moderate brown bread, a little toasty, with notes of orange, melon. Light-medium sweet flavour with rounded malt character, pleasant citrusy hops, mild bitterness. Light bodied with fine carboantion; good condition. Bucket balanced finish with further juicy citrus notes, nice bready malts, a little melon, tangerine. Perhaps basic, but really damn drinkable.
