Bottle sample at a tasting at Max’s place. Thanks Stas. Black with a light brown head. Aroma of roast, coffee, dark chocolate, a bit of dark fruits. Sweet flavor with chocolate, roast, some coffee, caramel, toffee, dark fruit note, some bitterness, and an alcoholic note. Full-bodied, rounded, chewy. Great stuff.

Bottle - Dark roasty chocolate and a touch of anise. Jet brown with a nice light brown head. Silky and smooth with some nice roasty chocolate and cocoa and a long finish with a touch of bitterness. Big, bold and smooth. Good.

Bottle drunk 8/13/16.
Dark, ebony-mahogany body shows magenta highlights and medium clarity. Tan head atop slowly fades to cover.
Intense fudge mixes with toffee, light anise and big butterscotch notes. Dark chocolate and mild roast with plentiful fruitiness ending still on the sweet side of things thanks to all of this rich base malt sugar leftover. Low on the alcohol, however, for its size.
Sweet fudge again, as seems to be the dominant theme here, but it’s got enough acidity from the roast to at least make a shot at balancing. Chocolate-coverd cherries, rich tobacco and more butter toffee abound with just a touch of heat on the finish and a sugary-soft texture with low-to-moderate, fairly engaging carbonation. Not too shabby, especially given the abv and how much sugar is in this stuff, but uh, yeah...there’s too much sugar in this stuff....

Small brown head. Hazy deep dark brown body. Focused earthy chocolatey aroma with mealy herbal notes. Sweet fruity toasted sugar taste with herbal spicy notes. Full-bodied. Mild, hot mouthfeel, slightly flat. Sweetish spicy herbal toasted mineraly sugar aftertaste with pine needle and agave notes. Very good, and very interesting.
