This festive take on a classic London Porter refers back to the Old English winter tradition of adding spices to beer. The fragrant warmth and aroma of the cinnamon complements the rich, dark malt flavours of the Porter

Bottle shared at the 2015 edition of the chriso Pre-GBBF tasting - London. Cheers! Pours clear, rich brown with a creamy, tan head. The nose holds hearty cinnamon, with some toasted bread and berries, too. Medium sweet flavour with strong bready malts, spicy cinnamon, chocolate. Light to medium bodied with average carbonation. Nicely balanced to finish, with continuing chocolate crossed with cinnamon. Good stuff.

Bottle at Pre-GBBF Shindig 2015. It pours deep brown with a small light beige head. The nose is earthy, toasty, cinnamon bun, milky, creamy and freshly ground nutmeg. The taste is bitter-sweet, spicy, earth, wood, cinnamon, cocoa, caramel and toast with a dry, lightly spiced finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Probably quite old, but it isn’t that bad. Pretty OK.

Pre GBBF tasting at Chris and Ruth’s. Raided from Jan’s box - cheers Jan. Clear deep amber beer, small pale tan head. Palate is light and semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Tangy thin dark malts. Mild dark fruits. Mellow cinnamon. A little lactose in the thin dry finish. Passable but surely Meantime can do better than this!

Bottle at pre GBBF 2015. Spicy thin dark brown. Not a great beer. Had a cinnamon before earlier. But this is worse.

750ml bottle [#0071/1200]. Darkest brown colour with average to huge, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Dark malty and dark fruity aroma, a touch of dark berries, raisin, plum, notes of cinnamon. Taste delivers similar flavours, a minimally dry touch from the cinnamon. Well balanced, not overspiced, with explicit X-mas eligibility.

Bottle from Ales by Mail. Dark brown pour with a fluffy beige head. Sweet spice and raisin nose. Can certainly taste the cinnamon. Sweet malt linger. Quite pleasant but needs a bit more edge.
