2016 bottle from Knightly on steep discount; 7.6ish%. Stemless at the hotel. Hazy, deep, dark garnet color with a splash of lace. Deeper, beautiful matte raspberry syrup on the second pour. Not a ton of head. Black raspberry nose, Pinot Noir, a touch of vinegar, a hair of veg. Juicy, sweet-tart, super vinous, raspberry -lime flavor. Hint of itchy malt & oak. Very slight cider vinegar on the tail. Not full blown sour like some of their other offerings, or at least it died some over time. Slight texture, strong acid, medium high tart, good bite, some natural sulfites. Lovely with age.

(Bottle, 2016 project, 7.7%) Deep burgundy colour, with brief pink head. Fruity, sourish nose with raspberries, red fruit, oak wood, caramel and some balsamic vinegar. Fruity, tart taste with notes of wild raspberries, tart red fruit, blood orange, oak wood, vinegar and a dry and tart finish with fairly low bitterness. More than medium body, dry. Really tasty, with a fresh acidity and a rich wood character. Seriously great beer.

Rating #9000!!!!!!!!! 2015 Project (vintage) Beer #10 (of 19) of my 9000th Beer Celebration [9 beers on both sides of #9000th itself] Deep dark brown and muddied amber coloured body with even a nice shade of purple as a tint, all with a fairly fast-dying and subdued tan and light brown head that starts at around three centimetres in height and fades to just a thin layer after a few seconds. Aroma of quite strong, very soured and tart fruits with the raspberries of course front and centre, but also with strawberries, cherry, oak, cedar and a lot of funky spontaneously fermented notes here with the foeder and woodsiness front and centre, but the raspberries really dominate in a great way, as you'd expect. Medium to Full-bodied; Rich and soured fruits show through everything here with strawberry and cherry notes somehow showing a bit more at first than rapsberries, but then after a slight breadiness and malt backbone, the raspberries and soured, funky yeast comes through in a great way, with a good oak and woodsie finish that has some earthiness and a light nutty flavour, but then after a few seconds, the sugars rescue this one, all derived from fruits, of course. Aftertaste shows tart raspberries, a bunch of dry, woodsie and oak elements with some yeast notes, a little bit of bread and alcohol comes through near the finale with a dash of pure caster sugar flavours adjacent to all the fruitiness. Overall, a very nice beer of course, and one deserving to be a 'special occassion' beer, as it would be for me, regardless of what beer I'm celebrating, but especially for me in this case, given it's beer #9000 for me and a good example of how this brewery (one of my favourites here in the states) can make good beer, so regularly. I sampled this corked and caged 75 cL bottle, purchased from Binny's Beverage Depot in Chicago (Downtown, North Loop location), Illinois on 25-May-2016 for US$22,99 just after my second daughter was born, sampled at my house here in Washington for Beer #10 (of 19) of my 9000th beer celebration [9 beers on both sides of #9000th itself, which this one is exactly #9000], with three kids now, the youngest is almost four, as a celebratory beer for #9000th. A great option of course and great to have more than five years aged in a cellar here, by me.
