RBESG 2017, sampled on July 23, 2017 @ St. Urho’s Pub, Helsinki. Looks muddy brown, even muddier than sahti, not much carbonation. Sweetish fruity nose, actually not off-putting. Taste is quite flat, weird hop flavours, sort of off-putting messy overall flavour profile. Yep, not really that great one.

Bottle at home in Hackney - sourced from Ocado. Labelled as ’Green’s Grand India Pale Ale’. Pours clear copper-gold with a creamy, off-white head. The nose holds white grape gummies, bread, tangerine. Medium sweet flavour with more gummy white grape and ripening citrus fruits, very slight piney bitterness. Light to medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Decent balance in the finish, some gummy candies, tangerine, bread, faint grass and pine. So so overall. Interesting.

(Bottle, 0.33 l, thanks FatPhil, 20160813) The beer poured deep amber and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had grass, fruitiness and earth. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were grass, sweetness, earth, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet and bitter. A weakish sweet hoppy pale ale.

Bright clear gold beer, tidy pale cream colour head. Palate is light, semi dry and has a decent minerally carbonation. Thin malts, mildly sweet. Sweetish pine and a touch of candy fruits. Light hop orange and orange peel. Light semi dry finish. Hangs together well, sweeter than your average IPA but tasty.

500 ml bottle into tulip glass, best before 4/17/2016. Listed as 6% on the bottle. Pours fairly crystal clear deep orange/copper color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, lemon zest, orange peel, pear, apple, light pine, honey, brown sugar, light caramel, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/tropical hops, fruity yeast, and moderate dark malty notes; with solid strength. Taste of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, pear, apple, pine, honey, brown sugar, light caramel, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of herbal/pine/citrus rind bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, lemon/orange peel, citrus rind, pear, apple, pine, honey, brown sugar and herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice robustness and complexity of citrus/tropical/piney hops, fruity yeast, and moderate dark malty flavors; with a solid malt/bitterness balance and minimal astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness after the finish from bitterness. Medium carbonation and light-medium bodied; with a very smooth and moderately sticky/resinous mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice gluten free English IPA style. All around good balance, robustness, and complexity of citrus/tropical/piney hops, fruity yeast, and moderate dark malty flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. It needed a bit more sweetness to balance the bitterness, but was still a nicely enjoyable offering all around.
