With the colour of rich Porter but the punch of hops associated with IPA, our Black IPA is true deception in a glass. Three dry hop additions give this beer a scintillating aroma of pine and tropical fruit, while hints of toasted malt mix with big layers of US hop character from the addition of Simcoe and Mosaic varieties. What will you discover within the Dark Arches?

Can from Kerrera, Guildford. Aroma is bitter - coffee, charcoal, resin, with a pinch of herbs. Underlying creamy hints. Dark and glossy. Thick foamy beige head. Medium bitter. Resin and charcoal sprinkled coffee. Herbs. Dark berries. Some fruity sweetness hides in the darkness. And caramel. Medium bodied. Slick verging on oily. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Bitter and subsequently fruity BIPA.

Can from Lupe Pintos. Black body with a beige head. Low carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of blueberry, liquorice and pine. Flavour follows the aroma and adds toffee and a bitter, hoppy finish. Medium body with a smooth texture. Light fizz. This is a very good BIPA.

Been after this one for a long time, I like Northern Monk and I like a good BIPA, so high hopes. Can at home 26th July 18 from Cotterridge Wines, it's almost on its BB, 7th August 18. Pours black, some white head. Aroma is cocoa, citrus, chocolate, bitter undertones, some perfume. Taste is tangy, bitter, cocoa, some grapefruit, aromatic, perfume, grainy, really well balanced. Good BIPA.
