330ml bottle. Pours a mucky brown, small off-white head. Lovely resonant fruity fragrance, wheat. Flavour continues with a confident sweetness, grainy moments on the palate, sweet malt.. nicely presented, great balance.

31/1/2020. Cask at the 13th Colchester Winter Ale Festival. Pours clear amber / copper with minimal head. Aroma of toffee, wheat, light wood, fruit, sweet malt and leather. Medium plus sweetness, light bitterness. Medium body, sticky texture, flat carbonation. Alcoholic and leathery woody finish. Good stuff, doesn't quite have to intensity of the oak cask version. but aroma of this one is even nicer.

Tasting at Leighton’s Flat. Clear deep amber beer, good pale cream colour head. Palate is airy, very airy for it’s abv. Malts are caramel sweet but also some salted caramel in there. Vibrant dried fruits. Toffee. Light finish. Drinks below it’s abv. Decent.

Gravity cask at the Cambridge Winter Ales Festival 2015. Ominous golden brown. Almost flat, but there are wisps of white head. Aroma not up to much. Vinous alcohol, prunes, hints of rose petals. The taste however is phenom. Big sweet boozy sips deliver wheat spiciness, fruity sweetness and deep, deep alcohol burn. Hoppy bitter finish survives the taste bud apocalypse. Nice palette but I could do with more carbonation.

Bottle split at LKS ’Beers of London’ Tasting, high up thanks to Kenny 10/12/14. Amber with moderate off white spotting and edgework. Nose is caramel, light spice, light chocolate, brown sugar. Taste comprises rich dark fruits, toasted brown sugar, light booze, candied fruit peel, dates, spice, raisens. Medium + body, fine carbonation, semi drying close with light warming alcohol. Tidy barley wine affair.

Bottle shared in London. Thanks to Krazy Ken. Pours clear amber-gold with a frothy white head. The nose has some green pepper, dry bread, grains, toasted sugars. Medium sweet flavor, some elderflower, toffee, rich malts, toasted sugars. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming finish with more toasted malts, ripe fruits, green pepper. Quite novel stuff. Very drinkable.
