Skuffende fra starten av.... Brunsvart klar med lavt beige skum. Tam, noe brunt sukker og lakris. Noe saltsmak, ikke mye som minner om Imperial Stout. Lillestrøm ølfestival - Klimt

Smell of oak, rum, malt. Black colour, negligible light brown head. Aroma of oak, smoky whisky, some tar, some chocolate. Finishes with coffee and chocolate. Rich in taste, very balanced.

Bottle split at LKS ’Beers of London’ Tasting, high up, thanks to Kenny 10/12/14. Dark chestnut brown with a decent beige covering that collapses to spotting and edgework. Nose is caramel, dark fruit vibes, spice, candied fruit peel, charr, light smoke. Taste comprises dark fruit rinds, toffee, brown sugar, tobacco, dates, plummy notes, spice. Medium + bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with light warming alcohol. Ok stuff, comes over a little as a barley wine also.

(Keg at Black Door, 20141220) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had coffee, dark chocolate and burnt malts. Palate was full bodied and rather burning with medium carbonation. Flavours were liquorice, sweetness, alcohol, earth, burnt malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was boozy, roasty and bitter. The ABV was pushing through way too heavily.

Tap at Black Door, Helsinki. Colour is deep black with slightly brownish white head. Aromas and flavors: Licorice, hints of vanilla and chocolate&coffee and roasted malts. English imp stouts are usually quite bad but this one is soft and quite enjoyable.

Draught @ Black Door. Aroma has vanilla ice cream and licorice. Flavour has sweet fruity tones, vanilla. licorice, some saltiness and orange. Also some herbal tones that grow stronger towards the end of the glass among the salty licorice. The fruit juice -like house aroma is present and it seems to fit here very well. Nice and better than I expected.Cask @ Black Door. Aroma has strong licorice notes. Flavour has licorice, salmiac coffee, some smoky tones and hints of ash. Better than the draught version. 7-4-8-4-3.8

Tap @ Black Door. Black colored, brown head. Malty, dark chocolate, dark sweet fruity aroma. Flavor has dark chocolate, cough medicine, licorice. Something here that I don’t like, can’t put my finger on it. Very oily.

Tasting at Leighton’s Flat. Almost opaque dark brown - amber beer. Good fluffy cream - tan colour head. Light lactose and and malt nose. Palate is airy and soft and semi dry. Mild fine carbonation. Sweetish dark malts, sweet lactose cream. Mild coffee undertone. Little dark chocolate. Light aniseed blends well with dark orange fruits. Finishes soft with mild caramel and spice. Decent and drinkable.

Bottle thanks to Kenny. It pours deep red-brown with a small tan head. The nose is earth, toast, dried berry, juicy berry jam, roasted malt, toffee and coffee. The taste is toasty, scorched earth, wood, orange candy, dried fruits, cranberry, raisin, sultana, sherry, coffee and burnt toffee with a dry finish. Medium-full body and fine carbonation. More like a barley wine that Imperial stout in my opinion. Fine.
