On tap at The Trafalgar Brewing Company - Kowloon, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out rich roasted malt, some dark espresso, and earthy notes. Flavour is loaded with coal, followed by roasted malt and bitter espresso. A little obscured, but it's alright.

Draft at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours pitch black with minimal foam, cream and medium grain. Aroma is coffee and licorice. Body is pretty dense with moderate carbonation. Taste is moderately sweet with decent bitterness. Finish is pretty long and roasty.

09.04.2015, 0,33l bottle @ home:
Small slightly bubbly shortlasting head. Aroma is slightly sweet grainy, caramel malts, nuts, dark sugar, chocolate, dark malts, sour caramel, hay, grass, alcohol. Taste is kind of harsh, broth, harsh grain, salty caramel, paper, burnt caramel, sour coffee, grass, alcohol, bark. Medium bitterness, harsh boozy mouthfeel. This is not even an imperial stout in my mind. Crap!

Bottle. Foggy deep brown. Small creamy head. Nose: estery, fruity, malty. Medium to full body. Taste: malty, lightly roasted, estery, fruity. Not obligatory an impy. But a perfectly tasting dark strong ale.

A tester.

(Cask at White Horse, Parson's Green, London, 26 Nov 2017) Black colour with brief, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of sweet coffee, liquorice, raisins and some soy sauce. Malty, roasted, vinous taste with strong sweet coffee, dark chocolate, liquorice, soy sauce and a balanced coffee bitterness in a vinous and warming finish. Full body, with a certain sweetness. Quite powerful and on the sweet side, but really tasty and solid imperial stout. Very nice.

It was an alcoholic stout and didn’t compare to some of the multi-dimensional ones that I have sampled recently. There was malt and alcohol and that was about it. There was no head and no real mouth feel. I know that I am probably being a bit unfair, but there you go!
