330ml bottle. Deep dark brown with a small creamy tan head. Spicy aroma, cinnamon, cloves, ginger. Taste is more of the same, very spicy and herbal, cloves, ginger, cinnamon, liquorice, some citrus. Medium body, average carbonation. Odd. Toning down the spices would improve this for me.

Bottle from Boxbeers. Hazy very dark brown with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, wheaty, caramel and heavy Christmas spices. Flavor is medium sweet. Light dry finish. Has nothing to do with a Dunkelweizen. 200717

Bottle. Nice head with good duration. Color is close to black. Aroma and taste are xmas spices, roast malt, caramel and hops. Very unbalanced with so many xmas spices.

Keg at Mad Squirrel, Wycombe. Dark brown with a middling beige head. Initially quite sweet, but I then I got into it a bit more and started to enjoy all the flavours - banana, chocolate, cloves, nutmeg and a light roasty note. LOTS of cloves, in fact cloves and banana dominate. As I like cloves this was fine by me! But then as I drank more, the sweetness just got too much, and by the end I wasn’t actually enjoying it very much. An interesting brew then, but maybe it needs a stronger roasty note to balance all that sweetness.

Bottle. Beer Stop, Dronfield. Dirty, dark brown. Film of sticky, beige head. Nose has cola. Clove. Some dark fruit. A little vinous. Some coffee and chocolate malts. Taste is vine fruit sweet. Gets estery and dry. Thin mouthfeel. Burnt bitter finish. Smells decent, but overall it’s not for me, this one.

Bottle@TTBS, Copenhagen - Black pour with off white head. Dark malty aroma and taste, some wheaty notes, hoppy with some herbal notes, some really prominent hits of cloves that over balance this for me, not a fan.

33 cl bottle. Pours hazy dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is estery and spiced.dsrk malty. Spiced, nutmeg, herbal. Dsrk malty and dry spiced to herbal far finish.

On keg at the Hanging Bat. Appearance - opaque black but with some red chinks. Nice fluffy off white head. Nose - huge cloves note. That’s most of it really Clove rock sweets. Taste - and the same again. Palate - light to medium bodied with a tangy texture and a long dry smoky finish. Overall - it’s a one dimensional clove beer but I do like cloves.
