In our blonde beer we have created a beer that is designed to be uncompromising. We use mostly lager malt and a Czech hop variety Saaz. Saaz is the worlds most expensive hop, it is tricky to grow, has low yields and is low in alpha acid [the bitterness we get from hops]. It is an old variety...so why use it? Saaz is an aroma hop - it has a lot of delicate light hop oils which produce the hoppy, citrus nose, some even note pineapple. So very much a hop aroma but with a light delicate fruity overtone and the lager malt allows this hop character through to the fore. Our Blonde also greatly benefits from being brewed with pure soft mineral water - the fresh and clean upfront character of our Pale Ale is evident in our Blonde and the result of our pure water source.
Blonde is best served slightly colder than our other ales and is a continentally inspired blonde beer, light delicate, hoppy, subtle, and at 3.8% still very satisfying.

Tried at the Three Horseshoes, Waddington. Golden colour with a white head. Fresh hoppy aroma with a bitter finish.

Cask at Cherry Reds, Birminghan. 4.1% Poured a clear amber with a frothy white head and lots of clingy lace. The aroma is sweet malt, light hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a smooth creamy malt, hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium to light bodied with soft carbonation. A classic English bitter for me. Don’t get the name of the beer. Served warm and went down a treat.

Cask @ Crosse Keys, Chester [220314] [From memory as notes lost] Light blonde, clear, thin white head. Aroma has slight citrus, light very pale malts. Taste of sweet very pale malts, dab of citrus, slight floral and spicy notes. Palate - light body, clean finish with a touch of soft floral, citrus hop. Overall - Found this better than the Pale Ale, considering it’s lower abv, bit more hop in here

Cask @ The Dolphin, Shrewsbury. A bright, vibrant blonde with a deliciously sweet character and smooth body with citrus notes.

Cask @ The Glebe, Stoke. yellow with a big Northern head. The Saaz hops it boasts shine in the lemony, sweet and slightly soapy nose. Taste is sweet fading to bitter, and ending a combination of the two. Balance finely tuned. A good ale that tastes like a lager. Starts out good and continues to improve the more you drink.

Cask at Duke of York - Lichfield; yellow pour with medium white head, sweet malt aroma, slight citrus hop a bit fruity with calming malts. Decent session beer.

Two hand-pulled pints on 13 Oct 2012 in the excellent Cock Hotel, Wellington, Shropshire. True blonde in colour, a golden, bright looking ale with a tight white crown on top. Fruity notes can be found without effort in the nose and the taste: hop bitterness comes slightly later as the mouth is drying. Malts give the beer a semi-sweet front but the hops do assert themselves to give the brew an easy drinking feel from start to finish: another good beer from this brewery.

Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 5/09/2011. Golden with a slight white head. Aroma of sweet malts, slightly sour stoned fruits and citrus hops. Flavour of cereal malts, more fruit and a touch of sulphur, before a dryish finish. Fine.
