bottle. very solid sweet borbon barrel aged barley wine aroma with clear notes of vanilla and coconut. the bourbon vanilla coconut and sweet malts all blend together to a quite unique honey like sweetness that resembles perhaps honey chocolate cake aroma. could also be the aroma of a really, really, really good liquor, aroma is very complex, finer notes of apple and lots of other stuff I can't really figure what is. flavor is strong malty, caramel, coconut, but not sweet coconut, flavor is a lot less sweet than the aroma, and a lot more like a brutal powerful traditional barley wine, even the bourbon has given up trying to overcome the malts. Quite the sensation, the difference from aroma to flavor.

Butelka 33cl (BB 30.12.2023). Owoce w aromacie, słodka wanilia w dość intensywnym wydaniu. W smaku podobnie z tym, że na półwytrawnie, delikatne z leciutkim drewniano-beczkowym posmakiem, po prostu wyszło bardzo dobrze.

Hazy deep amber beer, short pale tan head that persists about as long as a politicians promise. Palate is light and mildly dry, decent fine carbonation. So straight up this is a barleywine that doesn't exist in its own right, it's a barleywine to serve as a vehicle for other brewing wizardry. Or not. This one is about the barrelling and the adjuncts. The malts are creamy sweet but far from over sweet. Toffee caramel in there but quickly subsumed by the generous bourbon barrelling. Smooth but rich bourbon, fruity too boot. Vanilla sits rather well with the bourbon, as it should, as we would expect. I would rather it came from the oak barrel but this is a borderline desert barleywine so slack is cut. Similarly, coconut. Had many many BBA beers with natural coconut a welcome bi product. Here its freshly added but it works well. Smooth finish. So basically a BBA barleywine that ideally would have vanilla and coconut as natural aspects of the barrelling. But why take that chance? Feels like a bit of a cheat here but it's bloody tasty so wtf should I be complaining about?

Had this at Frank (camper) after a 60-70km cycle ride along the Donau which included a 8-10km walk around Passau and Vilshofen an der Donau. Saturday 16th July 2022 . Pours chestnut brown with a rapidly disappearing head. Lots of coconut, sweet but also lots of bourbon, warming, I like this, okay its ridiculously sweet but it's got a lot going on.

Bottle at home, from HOTM online, 02/05/22 (wee hours). Mahogany brown with a decent beige cap that dissipates to a swirl. Nose is fruit cake, sherry, mellow bourbon, brown sugar melt, toffee, vanilla essence. Taste comprises caramel, vanilla, coconut Fudge, hint of chocolate, brown sugars, dried fruits, dates, bourbon kiss. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced rising boost. Solid BA BW ... ticks the boxes throughout.
