As September comes to a start the hum of the brewery almost sounds like whispers from trumpets as we brew one of our favourite seasonals, Bold as Brass. We first brewed this rye ale back in the autumn of 2013 as a celebration of London’s brass and music scene (initially in collaboration with the Hackney Colliery Band). It is back this year, bigger and bolder than ever.

The plan was to take a traditional bitter but with a modern twist. We added rye malt to give a spicy backbone to the beer and bold aromatic hops, Southern Cross and Brewers Gold to bring flavours and aromas of peach, lemon peel and pine.

These flavours all come together to make a harmonious, elegant copper ale that is a true celebration of autumn.
