Tap at the bluejacket Brewpub. A clear amber cola coloured pour with a lasting khaki head. Aroma is semi sweet, rye layered malts. Grass, gras, cola. Flavour is composed of drying grass, cola, spicy grassy hop, palate is semi crisp, drying finish, moderate fine carbonation. Weird one.

Can from Fort Point Market. It's a clear, dark amber with nice sparkle, finger-width fizzy beige head with poor retention and no lacing. Aroma is earthy caramel malt, cracker with a fresh hint of lemon, like a soda. Taste is earthy caramel malt, bread. Mouthfeel is light side of light-to-medium bodied with thin, frothy texture, soft-to-average carbonation and finish as taste with dry, lingering bitterness. Overall, it's fine but isn't super strong or rich. OK.

4oz at the brewery pours a dark rootbeer brown with a ring of grey-white head. Nose has malt, earthy notes, dark bread, a little dried fruit. Flavor is true to style, malty, bread, dates, palm sugar. Finishes dry. Doesn't light you on fire, but it's within range for the style.

Deep brown coloured body with a thinnish, two centimetre tall off-white and tan coloured head, about a centimetre or two tall. Aroma of toasted malt, nuts, caramelised sugars, a dose of bananas and cloves from the yeast strain and a touch of peated malt and tobacco. Medium-bodied; Assertive toasted malt, allspice and nutmeg flavours up front with a big dose of the banana and bubble gummy yeast profile with a dash of sweetness from caramelised sugars and toffee on the end, but this really is all about the malts. Aftertaste shows the dry grain and earthy malt with a good deal of hazlenuts and peanuts and ending with the complexities from the yeast strain and perhaps a touch of sugar. Overall, a nice and very respectable Dunkles with a solid yeast bite and smooth malt package which shows some complexities towards the end. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, shared by the GM of BlueJacket and sampled after playing hockey in Arlington, Virginia on 24-April-2019 - Thanks Erik for this one!
