Draught @ Brewdog Helsinki Pours pitch black with a smooth brown head. Aroma of roasty malts, loads of hops, grass, pine, resin, syrup, licorice, cocoa and vanilla. Taste is massively hoppy, slick and slightly roasty with loads of licorice, syrup, chocolate, pine, grass and resin. Finish is lingering bitter, hoppy, heavy and complex with loads of roastiness, molasses, syrup, some fruity notes, grass, pine, and hints of warming alcohol. Awesome hoppy imperial black IPA. Reminds me of Revelation Cat’s Speed King which is another favorite of mine. Great stuff, totally hits my sweet spot, although alcohol warms a bit too much in the finish.

Bottle, thanks to Kenny Kenny, split at LKS Moon Dome, 21/04/15 Batch #7. Pitch black with a decent tan covering. Nose is rich roast, liquorice, spice, earthy, bitter chocolate, booze fumes, dark fruit rinds, light smoke. Taste comprises tar, rich roast, spice, molasses, chocolate. Medium + bodied, fine carbonation, light hop coating and a booze trickle in the close. Ok impy, not top of class but an easy drinking number and a good notch or two below the ABV being offered.

Bottle shared in London - big thanks to Mitch. Pours oily black with a tough, frothy mocha cap. Big brownie nose, hearty dark chocolate, sturdy roast, dark fruits. Medium sweet flavor with heavy dark malt character, coffee grounds, earthy bitterness, dark fruits, raisins. Full bodied, chewy, with fine carbonation. Warming finish with lots of bittersweet baking cocoa, lasting roast, charred wood, scorched earth, more raisins. Solid.

Bottle thanks to Kenny. It pours jet black with a small tan head. The nose is rich roast, dark chocolate, coffee, light sweetness, umami, blackcurrant and dull soy sauce. The taste is bitter-sweet, bitter, ashy, charred wood, earth, warming alcohol, rich roast, pepper, coffee and blackcurrant jam with a dry, roasty finish. Full body and average carbonation. Not bad.
