This unique version of our monstrous Yeti Imperial Stout is aged for at least twelve months in whiskey barrels. The spirited aging process produces a hugely complex but mellowed Yeti, with its signature roasted flavors, hints of vanilla and oak, and a whiskeyed finish.

Re-rate (had an infected bottle before): 2015 bottle shared @ ZZT 2016-1. Opaque pitch black color, medium sized dark brown head. Aroma is awesome: malts, whiskey, some vanilla, light roast. Taste malts, whiskey, lightly roasted malts, light vanilla, alcohol, liquorice. Full body, firm carbonation. Nice! -- Old rating: Bottle [2011] @ home. Opaque black color, medium to full sized brown head that lasts for quite some time. Aroma is malts, wood, oak, but also a bit old imo. Taste malts, oak, sourish, no whiskey present as far as I can taste. Solely malts, oak and a sourness I dislike. A bitterness to some degree I guess but in any case this is very disappointing. Must be a bad bottle I think, but it’s all I can go on so no, not a good experience unfortunately. 5-5-4-3-11=2.8

Bottle from Colonial Spirits Solid black color small tan head. Roasty light fruit, light oak. Hints of coffee and chocolate. Very flavorful beer, but I found the body and mouthfeel a bit light I’m sure the tannic aspects of the barrel made me perceive this. I think I prefer the regular version.

Taster at the barrel bar - black pour - nose of treacle, tamarind, fig, brown sugar, light bourbon - flavor is similar - slight umami character up front before getting sweet, with notes of tamarind, treacle, cookie dough, vanilla - touches of smoke - considering how long it was in the barrels, it is surprisingly smooth and low in the booziness - slick texture and a slightly spicy finish - in reality, not any better than regular Yeti, for a much higher price, but glad to have tried it.

Bottle at Craigs. Pours oily jet black with a thin tan head. Aromas of burnt rubber, tar, bourbon, chocolate. Taste is boozy, dark chocolate. Boozy finish.

Bottle from 2011 - thanks to adnielsen! Pours inky black, small dark brown head that dissipates leaving a ring and some lacing. Aroma is roasty, molasses, licorice, some vinous mustiness, whiskey. Flavor is light plus sweet, a hint of vinous tartness; tastes more like a wine barrel aging actually, roast, cocoa, anise, molasses, some whiskey, oak tannins. Medium plus body, lingering acidity. Interesting. Not sure if this is infected or not, but its not bad either way. (7,4,7,4,13 -- 3.5)
Rerate from a 2017 12 oz bottle. Nice thick creamy dark brown head this time. Aroma is lacking the vinous notes and mustiness. Roasty, whiskey note and cocoa. No abnormal acidity. Pretty solid BA impy this time around. 7,5,8,5,15 -- 4.0)

Bottle number 2294, drunk 4/9/15
That’s great they put the bottle number but no date! And here I thought we were past the non-dating our specialty releases....So, no idea the age on this one....
Deep, dark ebony pour yields a large light tan head that is very well-retained. Nice, that’s encouraging to see.
I tried this at room temp (about 65 degrees) and chilled (50 degrees) and I much preferred the chilled serving. In both aroma and flavor its just massively vinous. Prunes, treacle, heavy char and massively oily, acidic tannin. The cooler temperature helps alleviate some of this, allowing the lightly chocolatey, moderately sweet yeti to break through. The body is comforting, rather oily/slick but also bolstered by the tight carbonation and large malt bill. On one hand, I like that it’s not a mouth full of bourbon. The barrel used seems to be at least 2nd generation and so it’s just more actual charred/toasted oak character and less boozy whiskey. That being said, the acidity builds up more and more on the palate and even slowly sipping half of the bottle became a chore after a while, despite my pairing it with a cigar. Hate to say it, but this sure would be ALOT better if it had been aged 9 months instead of 20!
