Nice thick tan head. Nose is soft bourbon with mild chocolate and a hint of vanilla. Taste features a nice range of elements -- sweet chocolate, soft bourbon, rich dark fruit, vanilla, molasses, some coffee and a solid touch of woody oak and coconut. These are supplemented by a dense creaminess, significant malt and is punched up by a solid effervescence. Improving with age as well.

Quite possibly one of the darkest beers I’ve had in a while. Jet black, medium dark mocha head. The aroma is a slap in the face of spicy bourbon, and earthy, sweet wood, with subtle vanilla and charred brown sugar. As it warms some of the roasty malts come through. There are hard to find amongst the barrel flavours, but they are there. The body is thick, and viscous. The carb is subtle, but not flat. The finish is roasty, quite sweet, with a lot of barrel. This is bordering on a barrel bomb, but it gets better as it warms and the cocoa, and roasty, soy malts come through.

Bottle from Wijnhuis Blerick. Nice Bourbon aroma with roasted malt, oak, chocolate, some alcohol. Moderate to medium sweet with a mild bitterness and a little alcohol in the finish. Full body. Good stuff, lots of Bourbon.

2020 version, 11.9%. - Black with dark creamy head. Aroma has a lot of dried prune and quite a lot of vanilla too. They follow through in the taste with those sweeter elements staying quite prominent. Later there's a growing bitterness with mocha notes fading into coffee before the final hit of sweet bourbon and drying wood. It's smooth and oily with a boozy note to the finish.

Bottle. A- Oak, slightly metallic, whisky, mild ash. A- Black color, black liquid, brown head. T- Oak, bourbon, cocoa, char, slightly boozy. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- The barrel influence in here was great. In fact, it was almost a bit tangy from the oak but the rest of the beer kept it in check. Really easy to down for the abv. This was another great variant of this beer.
