Notes from July 2012 Batch 2 bottle direct from the CBC fridge. Consumed 6/12. Dense, flat, plopped down white head. Chill hazed golden amber body. Nose is full of sweet Euro doughiness, straw, mild banana esters, maybe a touch of spice. Not much else. Tates of sweet/syrupy malts, plasticy banana, & a mild spice jar bitterness. Tastes like a sticky/flat, old hef. Okay carbonation, mellow alcohol, but it is still quite thick & rich & lacking. It's not what I want from a tripel. This honestly sucks in bottle format. Or at least when I got a hold of one. A great draft beer.

Bottle: Poured a golden with a thin white head that dissipated fast and left whispers of itself. Aroma is fruity. Taste is sweet sugary fruit, light metallic hint, malt balance and yet sugary finish. Noper on this one!

On tap at Cambridge Brewing Co. Hazy amber colour lasting white head. Big yeasty tripel. Some citrus candied zest. Bit of a surprise bug decent enough Belgian style tripel. Touch of soap. Some bitterness on the finish. . Hmm.

Crisp copper coloured body with a nice lightly hazy glow and a good, three centimetre tall off-white head on top. Aroma of honey, flowers, pungent earthy malts and a good deal of sugars throughout, all with a noticeable alcohol bite near the tail end. Full-bodied; Strong pungent honey and sugars at first that give way to a strong robust malty flavour and a large alcohol presence with some apricots and other fruits noticeable towards the tail end. Aftertaste shows more of the pungency from the alcohol and sugars than the lighter notes, but there are some of the yeast and the lighter spice notes of coriander seed and a bit of some grain. Overall, a decent-ish tripel that shows some good sides, but nothing entirely enjoyable or cohesive throughout. Nice to sample, and at this price point/location, not a bad option! I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in New York (Columbus Circle), New York on 11-April-2017 for US$9,99 sampled at home in Washington on 15-October-2017 in celebration of my oldest daughter's fifth birthday - Happy Birthday Claire!

Bottle 1pt 6 fl.oz. @ home. [ As Cambridge Tripel Threat ].Clear medium yellow orange color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, bread, cookie, light to moderate hoppy, moderate yeasty, fruiy yeast. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, bread, sweet malt, fruity malt, fruity yeast, cookie, light yeasty. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light alcoholic. [20160502]

This was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a glossy burnt orange color with a slim finger-ed white foamy head that quickly dissipated. Stringy lacing running here and there.
The smell had the typical qualities of a tripel - iced apples, slight Belgian spice, allspice, some ginger, spice cake. Really nice.
The taste was a nice balance between the spice and the sweetness with a sly sweet grassy aftertaste and finish.
On the palate, this one sat between a light to medium in body. Sipping to sessionable quality roaming around the feel.
Overall, for the first Belgian styled ale brewed in the USA back in the ’90’s, yeah, this still has it goin’ on. Great stuff, cheers to not reinventing the wheel!

Bottle from Voldby. Clear golden with a white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, yeasty and spicy. Flavor is quite sweet and rather bitter. Dry and rather bitter finish with lots of warming alcohol. 200216

Bottle at home. Hazy brownish gold one finger head. nose is fruity and yeasty. Tastes of yeast, spice, fruity pears and slight kiwi, some vanilla wood. Boozy warming but easy drinking am not too sweet.
