Pint of cask out the barrel at the Lytton Arms beer festival. This is a perfect and down the line bitter. All boxes ticked. Nothing special and nothing bad

Cask (O'Neill's, Uppsala) - Copper in colour. Dried fruit and some earthy notes feature prominently in both the aroma and the taste. Mediocre.

Handpull cask at the Fountain Inn, Tipton. Brownish gold, clear with a big buff head. Lots of lacing. Astringent, woody aroma. Taste has a surprising sweetness, with notes of caramel, before fading into a good bitterness. Light body, soft carbonation. As basic a bitter as you’ll ever find, but not bad.
