We are very proud of our association with Reading and the fantastic support we have been given by the pubs, clubs, restaurants and shops over the years. To honour this we are naming a beer after the town.

‘Reading Best’ is a deep golden best Bitter with an interesting fruity aroma and a smooth but nutty body. By blending traditional English hops with their modern American cousins and the addition of Crystal Wheat Malt in the grist Reading Best is a twist of old and new.

Cask at The Falcon, JDW - High Wycombe. Pours clear gold with a frothy, white head. The nose holds grainy pale malts, citrus peel. Light sweet flavour with more pale grains, a little carpet, lemon rind, hay. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Finishes with husky grains, a little grassy bitterness, more citrus peel. So so.

Cask at The Hobgoblin, High Wycombe. Amber with a thin white head. Biscuity malts with earth and dry leaf and a quite substantial bitterness. For all the brewery’s claims that this is a mix of old and new, this tastes firmly traditional to me. A competent enough bitter but nothing outstanding here.

Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell. Pale amber with a tight white head; grassy aroma with a touch of citrus; biscuity taste with a grassy bitterness; and a lasting finish with some lime. Better than the average bitter. it’s good to see something new from Loddon.
