Cask at the heriot watt beer festival. Pours deep brown, nose is roasted, musty, varnish, taste is burnt toffee, bitter, dry, acrid.

Cask at the Post Office Vaults, Birmingham. Poured a clear dark brown with a thin broken off white head. The aroma is grassy hop, some yeast. The flavour is moderate bitter with a roasty, light smoke, dry coffee, hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter sweet finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. A black IPA with a twist.

330ml bottle from Beer Gonzo. Deep brown colour with tan head. Aroma is roast malt chocolate and fruit. Taste starts sweet.

Almost opaque dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is light and minerally crisp. Nice brown malts with mild earthy coffee. Light thin malt cream. A brief flash of sweetish tangy dark fruits, Hops are piney and medium bitter, lesser citrus underneath. Trace of dark chocolate. Light finish. Really like the way this hangs together. All the flavours are in good balance and Iām always eager for the next sip. Nice job.

Cask ale, 1/3 pint, at the Sportsman in Huddersfield. Clear dark brown coloured body, reddish shade to it. Fawn-coloured head. Coffee and red orange to the nose. Jam-like taste of dark fruits, cherries and yeasty fruitiness towards the ending. So and so, not in its best shape, perhaps (09.07.2014).
